Topps used file photos for the three players in this set that are not in Cowboys uniforms. This also marked the first year that Topps included a team photo. The lead card in the team set, "Big Time Football Comes To Texas" shows real game action vs. the New York Giants from 1960.
The card back design for the 1961 Topps set was horizontal. The player cards featured an area on the back called Make-A-Photo. When you rubbed the blank area with a coin, a drawing of a football action scene appears along with a caption below.
