1963 Topps

No, you're not seeing double.  In 1963, Topps made a color correction after noticing a "purple"  sky on several cards in this set.  It is unknown as to what point in the production this correction was made.  The differences in the Sam Baker and Don Bishop are very subtle, so instead of showing another seemingly identical card, they are designated with a *.  Once again, due to the number of cards in this set (170), fewer cards were produced of some players, making the entire Cowboys team set SP's.

In 1963 Topps had a question and answer series on the backs that required a red filter to reveal the answer.  They simply superimposed the answer on top of the question using a different color ink.  Both are visible, but without filtering out the primary color used for the backs, in this case orange, it’s very difficult to read.  I noticed an error on the Jerry Norton card.  The answer to the question "How Did the Cowboys Acquire Jerry?" is incorrect.  He was not the Cowboys first draft choice as the answer dictates.  This is made fairly obvious by the fact that he’s pictured in an Eagles uniform.  Norton was drafted by the Eagles in the 7th round in 1954.
