No, you're not seeing double. In 1963, Topps made a color correction after noticing a "purple" sky on several cards in this set. It is unknown as to what point in the production this correction was made. The differences in the Sam Baker and Don Bishop are very subtle, so instead of showing another seemingly identical card, they are designated with a *. Once again, due to the number of cards in this set (170), fewer cards were produced of some players, making the entire Cowboys team set SP's.
After tracking the #82 Bob Lilly RC on eBay for over a year, I have seen a 6:1 ratio of color corrected versions of the card, than the purple sky variation (110/20). Beckett doesn't lay claim to either variation of the cards in this set as being more scarce than the other, but my research tells a much different story. I will continue to track the Cowboys cards in this set and update my findings each year.
