Food Issue Stickers
 

The NFL was constantly looking for ways to promote the league and generate interest in the game. One way was to provide the consumer with free items inserted into food products.

1965 Schwebel Bread Cloth Sticker
This pentagon shaped sticker was believed to be inserted into loaves of Schwebel bread. It is 2 1/2" tall and 2" wide.
 

1969 Chiquita Team Helmet Stickers
Measuring in at 1" in diameter, this is the smallest of the round stickers. The Chiquita produce company stuck these on their bananas in 1969 and they were also available in a complete set of 26.
 

1971 Chiffon NFL Booster Decal
This sheet of four decals were free with the purchase of a one pound soft tub or stick margarine.
 

1972 Chase and Sanborn Foil Sticker
These round stickers with a square foil background were found in containers of Chase and Sanborn coffee. The sticker back provides information on a send-in offer for all 26 team stickers.
 

1976 Sunbeam NFL Pennant Stickers
This set of NFL pennant stickers were found in loaves of Sunbeam bread. This sticker can be found with and without the Sunbeam logo printed on the back. Also see 1976 Sunbeam Die-Cut Team card.
 

1978 Kellogg's Helmet Stickers
These team helmet stickers were inserted into packages of Kellogg's Pop Tarts. They measure 2 1/2" x 2 5/8" and are numbered. The Cowboys sticker is #7. There was an identical sticker released by Kellogg's in 1983 that had the game "Touchdown" featured on the back instead of the referee signals as shown on this one.
